Privacy Policy
Your data powers
your coaching.
Effective August 2, 2026. Operated by Third Coast Labs LLC doing business as trce, Grand Rapids, Michigan.
1. Who We Are
trce is operated by Third Coast Labs LLC, doing business as trce, based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. We build AI-powered cycling coaching tools. Questions about this policy can be directed to support@gettrce.com.
2. What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of information: • Account data: your name and email address, provided at sign-up. • Athlete profile: FTP, max heart rate, weight, VO2 max, training goals, coaching style preference, and target event details — provided by you in the app. • Apple Health data: if you grant access, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, and cycling workouts including date, duration, distance, active energy, heart rate, and the effort rating you give a workout, read from your device with your permission. Rides you record on your Apple Watch reach trce this way. See Apple Health Data below. • Usage data: standard server logs including IP address, browser type, and pages visited. We use this data only for security and debugging purposes. • Images: screenshots you voluntarily upload to the chat for coaching analysis. These are processed in real time and not stored permanently.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data to: • Provide personalized coaching recommendations and training plans. • Inject your ride history, athlete profile, and goals into the AI coaching context so responses are relevant to your actual training. • Improve the reliability and performance of the Service. • Respond to support requests you initiate. We do not use your personal data or ride activity for advertising, marketing to third parties, or any purpose unrelated to providing the coaching Service.
4. AI Processing and Anthropic
trce uses Anthropic's Claude models to generate your coaching. To do that, we send Anthropic a summary of your recent training and your current readiness so the coaching reflects your actual situation rather than a generic template. What is sent includes: • Your readiness values for the day: heart rate variability in milliseconds, resting heart rate in beats per minute, and sleep duration. These are your actual measurements, not a score or category. • A typical range for each value, calculated from your own history over the preceding weeks, so the coach can tell whether today is normal for you. • Recent ride summaries: date, duration, distance, and where available heart rate, power, and elevation. • Your profile: FTP, maximum heart rate, weight, training goals, and coaching preferences. • Your conversation history with the coach, so it can follow a thread across messages. Anthropic processes this to produce your coaching and returns it to us. Under our agreement with Anthropic, your data is not used to train their models. If you send the coach an image, such as a screenshot from another fitness app, the model reads what is in it. That may include health figures shown in the image, including readiness, heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep. The image itself is processed and not stored permanently, but any values read from it may be used in your coaching and stored with your account. We do not send Anthropic your name, your email address, or your account identifiers.
5. Apple Health Data
If you connect Apple Health, trce reads the following from your iPhone with your explicit permission, and only the types you allow: • Heart rate variability, resting heart rate, and sleep. These are read once a day and used to calculate your daily readiness. • Cycling workouts, including duration, distance, active energy, and heart rate, so a ride you record on your Apple Watch reaches your training log without you opening the app. • The effort rating you give a workout — the how-did-that-feel question your Apple Watch asks after a ride. It is your own answer, not a measurement, and your coach reads it so it knows how a ride felt and not only what it measured. Apple also stores its own estimate of your effort alongside your rating; trce does not read that. Workout routes from Apple Health are processed entirely on your device to summarize a ride's terrain, such as climbing and descending. Route and location data are never transmitted to or stored by trce. You choose which of these to allow when you first connect. You can change or revoke any of them at any time in the Health app under Sources, or in Settings under Privacy and Security, then Health. Revoking permission stops trce from reading new data. It does not delete data already stored. See Your Rights below. The readiness values and ride summaries described above are sent to our servers and stored with your account. Apple does not receive anything from us. The connection is one way, from your device to trce. trce never writes data to Apple Health. The write permission you may see on the Health permission screen exists only because Apple's framework requires it. We do not sell Apple Health data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train any AI model.
6. Ride and Health Data: Retention and Deletion
Rides reach trce through Apple Health. When you grant access, we read cycling workouts and recovery readings recorded by your Apple Watch or other Health sources, and keep them so your coach can learn from your training history. You can stop new data reaching trce at any time from the Health app under Sources, or from Settings, Privacy and Security, Health. Revoking access stops new rides and readings from arriving. It does not remove what we already hold. To remove everything, delete your account. Email support@gettrce.com with the subject Delete My Account and we remove your account and all associated data.
7. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your data with third parties except: • Anthropic — receives your training data, readiness values from Apple Health, profile settings, and coach conversation history in order to generate your coaching. It does not receive your name, email address, or account identifiers, and does not use your data to train its models. • Supabase — our database and authentication provider, which stores your account and athlete data on servers in the United States. All third-party providers are contractually required to protect your data and may not use it for their own purposes.
8. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security on our database, and restricted API key access. We do not store passwords — authentication is handled via Supabase's secure magic link and OAuth flows. Despite these measures, no system is perfectly secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique email address and to contact us immediately at support@gettrce.com if you believe your account has been compromised.
9. Your Rights
You can ask us to delete your account at any time by emailing support@gettrce.com. When you do, we delete your profile, your rides, your training plans, your coach conversations, and everything read from Apple Health, including heart rate variability, resting heart rate, sleep, workouts, and your effort ratings. We also delete your login, so the account cannot be signed into again. This is immediate and permanent, and it cannot be undone. You can also request a copy of the data we hold about you at the same address.
10. Cookies and Local Storage
trce uses browser localStorage to store your session state, athlete ID, and cached profile data for performance. We use a single authentication cookie to maintain your login session. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies of any kind.
11. Children's Privacy
trce is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at support@gettrce.com and we will delete it promptly.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
